About this place
One of the signature offerings at meisan cafe in Teradocho, Muko, Kyoto Prefecture, is the chef's daily "whimsical lunch" (kimagure lunch), which brings together an assortment of dishes on a single tray. Plentiful side dishes, tempura, and deep-fried bites are often paired with a comforting soup crafted to highlight seasonal produce, making for a varied and satisfying meal. The lunch includes a petite dessert and coffee, and lingering over an optional homemade cake set makes for an equally leisurely finish.
The lunch menu also highlights noodle dishes built around expressive seasonings and traditional dashi stocks. Offerings range from yakuzen pasta tossed in a Japanese-style sauce of shio koji (salted rice malt), vegetable broth, black vinegar, and mackerel to a cream-based pasta pairing bonito dashi and milk with bacon. Guests will also find stir-fried yakiudon laced with black vinegar, warm udon steeped in kelp dashi, and dashi-rolled omelette (dashimaki tamago) and ham sandwiches. A la carte sides such as dashimaki tamago and burdock root tempura make it easy to assemble a lighter bite or round out a fuller meal.
The cafe is appointed with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, and restroom facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for solo visitors and families alike. Accompanied by freshly brewed coffee, iced tea, or fruit juice, diners can unwind and enjoy their meal at an unhurried pace.
